As part of our Month of Kindness Challenge, we invite you to double a recipe and freeze half to give to a neighbour at a later date. Here are some recipes we have found online, curated by Moe and Brenda, two Award Pool team members who love to cook.
All types of stews are excellent for doubling and freezing. Just make sure you bring the stew to room temperature before putting in a large freezer bag and freezing for later. It’s a great idea to send a loaf of bread with the stew.
Freezer Bag Chicken Curry Stir-Fry
Not all stir-fry's freeze well but this one has hearty enough vegetables to freeze. When delivering to a neighbour, include a box of rice or make rice to accompany this tasty meal.
Pies are made for the freezer! Apple, pumpkin, cherry and even chicken! This one is easy to make, especially if you intend on using a store-bought pastry shell.
Deliver Chili with a bag of tortilla chips or a loaf of cornbread. This is a great meal for families with picky eaters.
Oatmeal Meatloaf Muffins with Horseradish Frosting
This recipe is great for seniors or singles because you can easily portion the meat muffins and get a few meals out of it. Goes great with salad or mashed potatoes.
Try this one with ground beef, turkey, tofu or chicken. Send with a nice green salad.
Everybody loves lasagna and it’s a great family meal. Deliver with a batch of cookies and be the best neighbour ever!
